COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry Delivers Main Steel Structures for Hong Kong Kai Tak Stadium Retractable Roof Construction Project
Recently, COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Guangdong) delivered the 27th batch of steel structures for the main stadium of Hong Kong Kai Tak Sports Park, marking the successful conclusion of its first shipping task for stadium projects in the non-shipbuilding business operations. The project entails the construction of a retractable roof, the main steel structure of the stadium, as required by British Standards/EU Standards ESBN and Hong Kong Code of Practice (COP) for the Structural Use of Steel 2011. The stadium will serve as the main venue of the 15th National Games of China, which will be jointly hosted by Guangdong Province, Hong Kong, and Macao in 2025.
The Kai Tak Stadium project is one of the major projects for people’s well-being in Hong Kong. COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Guangdong) has overcome the challenges in the design and construction of steel structures. In the meantime, it communicated with all the on-site technicians to clarify the operating standards. It also formulated clear operating procedures and a reasonable plan for production sites and processes to realize an optimal material flow. The project construction will span 11 months.
